Localizado na cidade tombada de Cataguases, MG, onde Oscar Niemeyer construiu sua primeira casa encomendada, o projeto reforma e amplia uma área de instalações existente, incluindo um prédio tombado do século XVIII. Para manter o acesso principal do local e uma árvore histórica, o novo edifício foi construído sobre a rua interna de paralelepípedos existente. Os edifícios reformados também são interligados por pontes, para facilitar a circulação e estruturar melhor a organização interna entre departamentos. Um generoso jardim frontal liga o local ao Museu da Eletricidade da empresa, abrigado no edifício tombado.

Located in the landmarked town of Cataguases, MG, where Oscar Niemeyer built his first commissioned house, the project renovates and extends an existing facility area, including a landmarked building from the eighteenth century. To maintain the site’s main access and a historic tree, the new building is bridged over the existing cobble-stone internal street. The renovated buildings are also connected through bridges, to facilitate circulation and better structure the internal departmental organization. A generous front garden connects the site to the company’s Electricity Museum, also housed in a landmarked building.
